Stephen Harrell, supervisor, and Stephen Bedsole, partner, co-authored the article, “Healthcare Reform Impacts On Providers – How CPAS Can Help,” that appeared in the January/February 2012 issue of GSCPA’s Current Accounts.

Healthcare reform includes a wide variety of changes that will significantly affect financial reporting for hospitals and other healthcare providers for many years to come. Due to the significance of healthcare reform and its effects on healthcare providers, individuals working directly or indirectly with these organizations should stay up-to-date on reform and its gradual implementation to prevent their organization from facing unexpected financial difficulties related to the requirements and changes implemented, as well as take advantage of business opportunities.

A few key areas highlighted in the article include Accountable Care Organizations, Health Information Technology, changes in payments and payment methodologies, and new or expanded Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reporting requirements.
