As an experienced hire, I chose Draffin & Tucker because of its outstanding reputation.

The firm is very well-respected in the healthcare industry. Also, I have known several of the Draffin & Tucker partners for many years.
The people of Draffin & Tucker are both friendly and professional. The firm has a one firm, one family atmosphere.

Atlanta is a great place to live and work. The Falcons, Braves and Hawks give us professional sports year round. I really enjoy attending some of the Chick-fil-A collegiate football games played at the Georgia Dome. Alabama has played in the kickoff classic twice in the past few years and is scheduled to appear again the next two years. I also love the many great restaurants the city offers.

I attend local Alabama alumni chapter meetings when possible and I have served as president of the Atlanta Red Elephant Club (athletic booster club). I also enjoy attending football games in Tuscaloosa each fall with friends and family.

I chose to work at Draffin & Tucker because of the company’s atmosphere and because of the many different opportunities I knew I’d have working with a firm of its size.

One of the many great things about Draffin & Tucker is the willingness of everyone to help you learn and grow as a professional. My greatest fear about going into public accounting as an auditor was that I wouldn’t be able to catch on quickly to the software, company policies, and how to audit. Everyone at Draffin & Tucker has gone above and beyond in helping me learn, and develop as a professional.

Atlanta is a great place to live. There is always something going on, and the restaurant selection is virtually endless. There is something here for everyone.

My time at Alabama was great, and I love to relive my experiences there by getting together with friends and watching the games. And, of course, going back to Tuscaloosa is always fun.

My wife’s family lives in Albany. I visited frequently throughout college and we discussed moving here after school. Draffin & Tucker was the obvious choice geographically. During my office interview, I realized that the firm personnel really enjoyed their day-to-day jobs and the firm, from staff to partners, treat each other with respect.

Life happens outside of work. The firm understands that and that’s why they encourage a healthy balance of work and life, something that is rare in the accounting industry.

I love that Albany feels like a small town. There’s a sense of community you don’t typically get from a town with its size. There are several golf courses in Albany and when I get free time that’s where I prefer to be. If not the course, then the river. Additionally, Albany is just a few short hours to the beach! If all that falls through, there’s always the local brewery which hosts events throughout the year. And serves beer, of course!

I watch every game with my wife in our Alabama jerseys. We even have a jersey for our dog to wear when the tide plays. We try to make it back for at least a game each season, sometimes more. When we’re at the beach, we set up our Tide Tent and watch the game right there in the sand with our tablets.

I chose Draffin & Tucker because I felt like they were genuinely invested in me as an individual and not just interested in what I could do for them. The first time I walked into the office I immediately felt home. Everyone in the firm seemed to know so much about each other just like family. I could tell that the people I met genuinely cared about me, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it.

Since it’s a smaller firm, you’re able to work on a lot more parts of an audit than someone at a much larger firm. It’s an amazing advantage to be able to get that early exposure and learn the concepts. Also, you get to know everyone on both a personal and professional level. Everybody is helping everybody. There are no stupid questions, you can ask as many as you want, and every day provides a team effort to solve problems. It’s comforting to come to work and know that the firm’s focus is on your individual development both inside and outside of the office. The firm’s flex schedule also allows PLENTY of time to have a life and/or study for the CPA exams, which is a huge plus.

Atlanta has so much to offer in terms of entertainment. I love exploring the many attractions and restaurants in the Atlanta area. There is always something going on, and there is always new food to try. My fiancé and I also go to the movies about twice per week. There is nothing like watching a film while sitting in leather reclining seats with a giant bucket of popcorn.

Since I’m from Tuscaloosa, I frequently visit for every type of reason. I’m in constant contact with a lot of my former classmates, and I’m always looking for an opportunity to help my fellow alumni. I’m still in the habit of saying “Roll Tide” as a response in any scenario and I don’t think that will ever change. I have two dogs, Cooper and Reuben, who I named after former players Amari Cooper and Reuben Foster. My home office is Alabama themed, and I proudly yell at the TV whenever I’m not able to attend the games during football season.
